We are currently
working on two projects – a book and a documentary
film – telling the story of the miraculous survival
of Israel in the first few weeks of her existence in May
1948. The focus is a group of four young pilots – an
American, a South African, and two Israelis – who
spread their wings over the country and held off the Army
of Egypt.
“Destiny” the Book, by Lorin Roche, Ph.D. and
Camille Maurine – narrative nonfiction based on
Lou’s life story. It will read like an
action-adventure novel and as a gripping personal memoir.
From Lou’s boyhood on a farm in Hungary, to
immigrating to the U.S. and becoming a fighter pilot in the
Marines, to his service to the nation of Israel, the book
traces the forces that shaped his destiny.
“Destiny” the Documentary Film – reveals
Lou’s personal journey, the journey of the heart. The
film follows the adventures of the pilots from Los Angeles
to New York, Rome, Czechoslovakia, and Israel. Interviews
with Lou and other key personnel about the 1948 story will
be woven with historical footage, photos, and beautifully
filmed, poetic recreations of Lou’s memories and
visions.
Collectively, the book and documentary constitute the
Flight of Angels Project.
This story is not widely known, even though the events have
been recorded in newspaper accounts, magazine articles,
hundreds of public lectures, and history books. These brief
accounts only touch on the main points of this improbable
adventure. Now Lorin Roche and Camille Maurine are writing
the story based on their research and in-depth interviews
with Captain Lou Lenart. Noble Heart Media is also
producing the documentary.

documentary film project.
We are set up to receive tax-exempt donations for this
project, which we call the Flight of Angels Project. If you
